Alisson Becker admits he misses Salah, but insists: "life goes on" at Liverpool

The Brazilian goalkeeper opened up about Salah's departure and about Neymar, as Salah shines at Trabzonspor and Liverpool sit ninth in the Premier League.

Some goodbyes hurt more than others, and Mohamed Salah's exit from Liverpool seems to be one of them. Alisson Becker hasn't had any trouble admitting it: he misses the Egyptian. But he's also made something clear that every fan knows deep down: soccer waits for no one, not even a legend.

The Brazilian goalkeeper spoke with ESPN Brasil about two departures that hit close to home this year: Salah's, who after nine seasons on Merseyside left this summer as the third top scorer in club history with 257 goals and eight major trophies to his name, and that of his national teammate Neymar, who decided to retire from the Brazilian national team after playing in the 2026 World Cup.

Alisson held nothing back discussing both cases, speaking with a mix of fondness and resignation that sounds very much like something you'd hear in a locker room:

"Of course, all these players brought and still bring great benefits when they play for their clubs or national teams. And while they're playing, they'll always bring something positive. But life goes on. Brazil, Liverpool", "Liverpool is a great team, we signed new players and we already have a very good squad here. Brazil also keeps renewing itself. So things keep moving forward", "Obviously, we have a nostalgic spirit, anyone who loves soccer has a nostalgic spirit, so we'll always look back on the beautiful moments those players gave their fans. And we'll always miss them and want to relive those moments"Alisson Becker

Liverpool searches for his replacement, Salah remains unstoppable

At Anfield, they tried to fill the void left by Salah with two big signings: Bradley Barcola, who arrived from Paris Saint-Germain, and Víctor Muñoz, who came from Osasuna. So far, neither has come close to replicating the Egyptian's impact: Barcola has yet to score his first goal in a Reds shirt, while Muñoz has managed just one goal in seven matches. The team, for now, sits ninth in the Premier League, a position that suggests Alisson's "life goes on" might also be, in part, an act of faith.

And while Liverpool tries to find its footing again, Salah appears to have found a second soccer youth in Turkey. Since arriving as a free agent at Trabzonspor in August, the Egyptian has been simply overwhelming: seven goals and three assists in nine matches. Numbers that, all things considered, make any Liverpool fan feel a bit more of that nostalgia his goalkeeper talks about.

In the end, Alisson's words sum up pretty well what it means to follow a big club: idols leave, it hurts, you miss them, but the calendar doesn't stop for anyone. Not for Salah at Anfield, nor for Neymar with the Brazilian national team.
