America Piles Up More Absences: Cervantes Out Against Necaxa, Veiga a Doubt Until Saturday

America's injury list keeps growing ahead of the trip to Aguascalientes. Added to the five absences already accounted for due to national team call ups, Guillermo Almada's squad now faces two more issues in the treatment room: Alan Cervantes has already been ruled out, and Raphael Veiga is fighting to stay on the plane to Necaxa, though his availability still hangs by a thread.

Cervantes and Veiga were unable to complete the last two training sessions, which raised concerns ahead of the Matchday 10 clash against Rayos. And while one case has already been decided, the other will have to wait until the last possible moment.

Cervantes: an issue that had been lingering for a while

Cervantes' situation is not a new problem. The America midfielder had been carrying a muscle injury since the Clasicos against Cruz Azul and Chivas, matches in which he played through pain with the help of injections just to be available. That same injury kept him out of the national team call up during this FIFA break, and now it also rules him out of the squad for the trip to face Necaxa. The plan, as confirmed, is to use this break to fully recover him instead of continuing to push his body match after match.

Veiga: waiting on Saturday's training session

Veiga's situation is different. The Brazilian took a knock to the ankle that has kept him from training at the same level as his teammates in Thursday and Friday's sessions. Nothing has been decided yet: it will be this Saturday, once the morning session wraps up, when Almada decides whether to include him in the squad or hold him back rather than risk it for the trip to Aguascalientes.

For now, the Brazilian remains a doubt, and his inclusion will depend directly on how he responds in that final practice before the squad heads to the Aguascalientes stadium.

With two more names added to the injury list, on top of the five players away with their national teams, Almada will have to solve a tricky puzzle to put together the lineup that visits Necaxa this weekend.
