Anderlecht thrashes Jagiellonia Bialystok 0-3 to catch its breath in the Europa League
With goals from Cvetkovic, Winkler and Onia-Seke, and a decisive Llansana, the Belgian side controlled the match from start to finish and bounced back after a rough start to the tournament.

Anderlecht walked away from Chorten Arena with a 0-3 win that serves as a much needed boost right when it needed one most. The Belgian side arrived off two losses in its first three Europa League league phase matches, and against Jagiellonia Bialystok it found the composure it had been missing so far: it struck first, managed the lead, and sealed the match late with two goals that put the result beyond doubt well before the final whistle.
The script was set early. Barely past the first quarter hour, Jagiellonia had already given a warning with a header from Lukas Ambros and an angled shot from Oleg Reabciuk that forced sharp saves, but in truth those chances came while Anderlecht itself was hunting for the opener. It found it in the 20th minute: Mihajlo Cvetkovic finished with his right foot from the middle of the box, low and inside the left post, for the 0-1. The home side, far from folding, created its own answers in the first half, with Guilherme Montoia's shot in the 39th minute among the clearest, but it could not beat the visiting goalkeeper and went into the break trailing.
The second half and the killer blow
In the second half, Jagiellonia again flashed signs of life, with attempts from Anders Klynge and Aleksandar Cirkovic that failed to find the net. But the match slipped away for good in an eight minute stretch that changed everything. In the 71st minute, Marten Winkler doubled the lead with a left footed finish from the right side of the box, set up by Enric Llansana, for the 0-2. Then in the 79th minute, Jayden Onia-Seke, who had just come on, finished from outside the box with his right foot for the 0-3, also assisted by Llansana. Two goals bearing the same provider's signature, burying any hope of a Polish comeback.
What the numbers say
The stats confirm that Anderlecht's dominance was not down to a couple of isolated plays. The visiting side controlled possession, created far more chances, and was markedly sharper in front of goal.
| Stat | Jagiellonia Bialystok | Anderlecht |
|---|---|---|
| Possession (%) | 41.2 | 58.8 |
| Shots | 6 | 15 |
| Shots on target | 1 | 8 |
| Corners | 4 | 4 |
| Passes | 360 | 511 |
| Fouls committed | 12 | 20 |
Our own xG estimate, calculated from the match's shots, backs up that superiority: 1.19 for Anderlecht against just 0.28 for Jagiellonia, a gap that makes clear the 0-3 scoreline was not inflated, but rather a fair reflection of a match the Belgian side controlled from start to finish.
The result also stands in contrast to what was projected beforehand: our preview gave the home side a 38% chance of winning, 29% for a draw and 33% for a visiting win, with fairly even expected goals figures, 1.44 for Jagiellonia and 1.34 for Anderlecht. None of that pointed to such a clear rout in favor of the Belgian club, which ended up winning with a dominance the preview never suggested.
What the match leaves behind
For Jagiellonia Bialystok, coming off a record of one win and two losses so far in the tournament, the setback deepens its doubts in the continental league phase. For Anderlecht, on the other hand, this was the response it needed after a difficult start: an authoritative win, built with patience in the first half and sealed with ruthlessness in the second, powered by names like Cvetkovic, Winkler, Onia-Seke and a dynamic Llansana who had a direct hand in the final two goals.
