Flick's unbeaten Barça, riding a perfect run, visits European champion PSG
Flick's side arrives without a loss and with Rodri as the big new addition to a Parc des Princes where Ferran Torres will reunite with his former teammates.

Ten for ten. That's how Hansi Flick's Barcelona arrives at the Tuesday, October 20 showdown at the Parc des Princes: unbeaten so far this season and hitting with a punch that has the whole continent talking. But the opponent waiting on the other side is no ordinary one, it's the reigning European champion. Luis Enrique's PSG hosts a Barça side on a roll, and the matchup promises to be one of the marquee fixtures of the Champions League league phase.
The Blaugrana are enjoying a sweet run under Flick, who since his arrival has put the team back in the fight for everything in Spain: two LaLiga titles, two Spanish Super Cups and a Copa del Rey. Add to that a stat that carries real weight in the Barça locker room: under Flick, the team has beaten Real Madrid in six of the last seven Clásicos. The upper hand at home is clear. What's missing is the leap in Europe.
Because that's exactly where the team has fallen short the last two campaigns. In 2024-25 it lost to Inter Milan in a semifinal decided in extra time, and the following season it was Atlético Madrid that cut its run short in the quarterfinals. Two painful blows that turn this trip to Paris into something bigger than three points: it's a chance to prove this team can also beat the best when it really matters.
A PSG that rules Europe but stumbles at home
On the other side is a PSG that needs no introduction in this competition: the reigning back-to-back champion, with the 2025 trophy and the 2026 one (the latter after eliminating Arsenal in a penalty-shootout final) already in the cabinet, chasing a third consecutive title. Ligue 1, however, has been tougher than expected so far this season. In Europe it's a different story: the club recently thrashed Manchester City 4-2 on the road, proof that Luis Enrique's side knows how to raise its level exactly when the schedule gets demanding.
There's also a special storyline for those nostalgic for Camp Nou: the return of Ferran Torres to the stadium where he'll cross paths with his former teammates. The Valencian arrives, on top of that, with the confidence of having scored the goal that gave Spain the 2026 World Cup title over Argentina. He'll share the spotlight with another former Barça man, Ousmane Dembele, now a key piece of the Paris attack.
On the Catalan side, all eyes will be on Rodri, one of the team's standout signings this season. The Spanish midfielder, a Champions League winner with City and 2024 Ballon d'Or recipient, gives Flick something Barça especially needs against a rival of this caliber: control, poise and order without giving up the attacking ambition that has carried him to win everything he's played for so far.
PSG wants to remain the team everyone has to beat. Barcelona wants to prove that its perfect start isn't just a line in October's stat books, but something that holds up on the biggest stages too.
