Barcelona demolish Real Madrid 7-0 as Clàudia Pina scores four in women's Clásico

Four minutes. That's all it took Clàudia Pina to blow the game open, and from there the women's Clásico turned into an exhibition that nobody inside Spotify Camp Nou will forget anytime soon. Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid 7-0 in Liga F, with an unstoppable Pina scoring four goals in the first half and leaving the visitors checking the clock long before the break.

The match, which had kicked off two hours late because of the storms that battered Catalonia over the weekend, exploded into life the moment the ball started rolling. Pina opened the scoring in the 4th minute against a Madrid defense that looked frozen inside its own box. That was just the appetizer. Between the 28th and 33rd minutes came a devastating burst: Pina netted her second and completed her hat trick in barely four minutes, and right after that Caroline Graham Hansen slipped past more statuesque defending to make it four. Before halftime, Pina still had time to score a fourth goal of her own, something no player had ever done before in a Clásico.

With the game already decided, head coach Pere Romeu opted to rest his star forward and also pulled Graham Hansen in the second half, handing minutes to Aitana Bonmatí and Kerolin in front of 40,533 fans. The show wasn't over yet: Ewa Pajor added a sixth, and Sydney Schertenleib capped off the rout with a long-range strike the opposing goalkeeper had no chance of stopping.

Pina, who had arrived at the match with five goals in Liga F, tied atop the scoring charts with Madrid's own Felicia Schröder, essentially doubled her tally in 45 minutes. Last season she set her career best with 21 goals, and this performance suggests she may be ready to take another step toward the very top of the world game.

Spectacular. This team leaves me speechless. This is what we work for. It's been a tough start to the season, but today we made a statement. Barca will always be Barca. We're going to keep going exactly the same way.Clàudia Pina

After the match, still smiling, she added:

What a special day. I'm keeping the match ball at home.Clàudia Pina

A Barca that holds firm despite a turbulent summer

The result comes after a busy summer transfer window for Barcelona, who saw stars like Alexia Putellas, Mapi León, Ona Batlle and Salma Paralluelo leave the club. The only new signing to start against Madrid was young Dutch defender Renee van Asten, while the club's marquee summer addition, Brazilian Kerolin, waited on the bench alongside Bonmatí, who is still working her way back from a leg fracture.

Madrid, for its part, also overhauled its squad. The club lost key players such as Caroline Weir but went big with four new signings who started on Sunday: Elisa Senß, Andreia Jacinto, Arianna Caruso and Felicia Schröder, the latter a club-record signing worth more than 1 million euros who had already scored eight goals this season. Madrid had come into the match unbeaten, having drawn with PSG and Manchester City in the Champions League, with Schröder and Linda Caicedo leading the attack. None of it mattered against a Barca side that, even without half its starting forward line, remained kryptonite for its rival.

With this result, Barcelona has reeled off six wins in six Liga F matchdays and now sits five points clear of Madrid in the standings. For the white half of the capital, the loss is their 24th against their eternal rival, with that lone win from spring 2025 feeling further away than ever after dropping all five meetings between the sides last season.

Meanwhile, academy products like Clara Serrajordi and Aïcha Cámara have slotted into the first team without a hitch, and signings such as Van Asten, Schertenleib and Esmee Brugts show the club keeps getting its bets on young talent right. Soccer moves fast, and rosters change with it, but this Sunday made one thing clear: some things at Camp Nou, for now, do not.
