It was a loaded Saturday across Europe, the kind that has you flipping between two screens at once. There were comebacks, blowouts and a couple of heavyweight stumbles, so let's break it down.

The day kicked off at Hill Dickinson Stadium, where Chelsea gave Everton no room to breathe, cruising to a clean 2-0 win. A solid result for the Londoners, the kind that builds confidence without much drama.

Later came one of the marquee matchups: Brentford hosting a Liverpool side fresh off a midweek Champions League win over LASK. But Andoni Iraola's team spoiled the party, rallying for a 2-1 comeback win. Not a bad way to test the pulse of a Liverpool squad that looked to be rolling.

City Regroups, Newcastle Grinds It Out

Manchester City needed a quick response after falling to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, and it found one against Ipswich Town. City won 3-2, powered above all by a brace from Erling Haaland, who once again showed up exactly when his team needed him most.

The Premier League wrapped up its slate with Newcastle United hosting Aston Villa on Tyneside. Unai Emery's side got the job done by the smallest of margins, 1-0, a narrow scoreline but three points all the same.

Blowouts in Italy, Spain and Germany

The rest of the continent wasn't shy either. In Serie A, Bologna hosted Inter Milan, and the reigning champions showed once again why they're the ones to beat: they won 3-1 and remain firmly atop the standings.

In LaLiga, Real Betis faced an unbeaten Barcelona, and Hansi Flick's side not only kept that run alive but did so in emphatic fashion: 5-2 for the Catalans, who continue to put together a perfect streak.

The Bundesliga had a bit of everything. Union Berlin brought one of the title contenders, Borussia Dortmund, to a screeching halt in a match that finished 0-0. Meanwhile, defending champion Bayern Munich made RB Leipzig pay dearly, putting on a true goal-scoring party: 6-1 at home, without even breaking a sweat.

Between unexpected comebacks, merciless routs and tight results worth their weight in gold, Saturday's soccer slate had a little something for everyone.
