Barcelona demolishes Getafe 3-0 at Camp Nou
Gordon, Gabriel Jesus and Kounde scored the goals in a dominant Barcelona performance that moves them to 24 points with a perfect record, while Getafe sinks 16 points behind.

Less than a minute had gone by when Anthony Gordon already had Getafe shaking. A right-footed strike from outside the box, aimed straight at the middle of the goal, opened the scoring while the match had barely gotten underway. What followed was a clear rout: a final score of 3-0 at Spotify Camp Nou, with Barcelona imposing a gap the scoreline barely does justice to.
The second goal came before the half-hour mark. Gabriel Jesus finished with his right foot from the center of the box, low and tight to the left post, in the 29th minute, making it 2-0 at halftime. Getafe, managed by Jose Bordalas, barely showed up: a couple of shots from Ivan Azon and Nemanja Gudelj were the closest thing to a response in the opening 45 minutes.
In the second half, Barcelona managed the game without easing off and found the third goal in the 72nd minute. Jules Kounde finished with his left foot from close range, into the right side of the goal, after a corner kick delivered by Lamine Yamal. The goal needed a VAR review before it was confirmed, but the 3-0 fairly reflected what had happened on the field.
Total control
The numbers from the night leave no room for debate. Barcelona controlled the ball for almost the entire match and outshot a Getafe side that never found space by a factor of five.
| Stat | Barcelona | Getafe |
|---|---|---|
| Possession (%) | 82.9 | 17.1 |
| Shots | 23 | 4 |
| Shots on target | 8 | 1 |
| Corners | 9 | 2 |
| Passes | 862 | 173 |
| Fouls committed | 9 | 11 |
Our own expected goals estimate for the match tells the same story: 2.76 for Barcelona against just 0.18 for Getafe. Those numbers back up what the eye test already suggested: the home side created chances consistently (six big chances, according to the match log) while the visitors barely set foot in the opposing box.
The preview had already pointed to a result tilted toward Barcelona: our projection gave them a 77% chance of winning, with 16% for a draw and 7% for Getafe, with expected goals of 2.5 to 0.63. What happened on the field ended up exceeding even those figures, with a scoreline that confirmed the predicted gap and widened it as the match went on.
What the result means in the standings
With this win, Barcelona moves to 24 points through eight matches, with a perfect record (eight wins, no draws, no losses) and a goal difference of plus 27. Getafe, meanwhile, sits on 8 points after eight matchdays, with two wins, two draws and four losses, and a goal difference of minus 6. The gap between the two sides in the standings stands at 16 points, a fair reflection of what was seen tonight at Camp Nou.
Barcelona didn't need to force anything: it was enough to take advantage of its chances from the first minute and let the game settle itself. For Getafe, the trip to Barcelona leaves the same conclusion the numbers point to: a night to move past as quickly as possible.
