Barticciotto move to Colo Colo falls through, Talleres president opens door to other Argentine clubs

The transfer saga surrounding Bruno Barticciotto has a new chapter, though not the one Colo Colo fans were hoping for. The chance that the forward would join Colo Colo as a last minute reinforcement before the closing of the transfer window in Chile has fallen apart, and everything points to his next destination not even being in Chilean soccer.

Barticciotto's name had gained traction in recent days as a concrete option to bolster the Cacique's attack. But the deal never moved forward, and according to reports, Talleres de Cordoba itself denies that any formal contact was made by the Chilean club.

The man who cooled things down was Talleres president Andres Fassi, who dismissed any notion of interest from Colo Colo and, in the process, opened the door to a different scenario for the near future of the forward who came up through Universidad Catolica's academy.

Fassi's comments, given to radio station ADN, make clear that Barticciotto's departure remains an open topic in Cordoba, just with a different direction than what had been speculated in Chile. Instead of crossing the Andes to the Monumental in Macul, the forward could stay within Argentine soccer, sent out on loan to one of the three clubs that, according to the club president, have already expressed interest in signing him.

Fassi did not reveal the names of those clubs, but he was clear about one thing: the high regard the player's performance carries within the organization. The Cordoba president's praise carries weight given that Barticciotto arrived at Talleres with expectations of becoming a key piece up front, though his run with the club never quite panned out the way it was initially envisioned.

A future to be settled in Argentina

For Barticciotto, in any case, the chance to log regular minutes at another Argentine club looks like a sensible path to reviving his career, after his time at Talleres failed to deliver the continuity he expected. A loan move, in that sense, appears to be the most likely route for the forward to get playing time while Talleres decides what to do with his contract in the medium term.
