Unbeaten and favored, Boca hosts River in another Superclasico at the Bombonera
The Xeneize have gone 13 games without a loss in the Clausura, and River need a win to keep their 2027 Libertadores hopes on track.
The Bombonera is dressing up for another big occasion. Boca Juniors and River Plate meet again in a new Superclasico, this time for matchday 15 of the Clausura Tournament, and the clash arrives with an extra edge: the Xeneize are on a roll and haven't lost in the domestic league in quite a while.
The match is set for Sunday, November 1 at Boca's stadium, kicking off at 3:00 p.m. in Argentina, Uruguay and Chile (1:00 p.m. for Colombia, Ecuador and Peru). Fans can catch it live on ESPN Premium and Disney+ Premium Plan, though only for South America.
Why this Superclasico carries a bit more weight
Beyond the usual rivalry, the kind that needs no introduction, this match serves as a real measuring stick for a Boca side that's riding high and comes in as the favorite against a River team that, as always, is never an easy opponent. If Boca wins, it deepens the good run the club has been enjoying. If River falls, the blow stings twice over: it complicates La Banda's chances of reaching the 2027 CONMEBOL Libertadores, and on top of that, it leaves Ponzio with a big question mark hanging over him as head coach.
The names that could decide it all
On the home side, keep an eye on Leandro Paredes, Lautaro Blanco, Leonel Flores and Miguel Merentiel. Across the way, River leans on the talent of Thiago Almada, Angel Correa and Gonzalo Montiel, three players who can change the match at any moment.
The numbers favor the home side: Boca is, right now, the only team still competing on every front, and in the league they've gone 13 games without a loss, with seven wins and six draws in that stretch. They also come in fresh off a tight win over Independiente. River, for their part, aren't doing badly either: just one defeat in their last nine league matches and two straight wins, the most recent a 1-0 victory over Racing.
The most recent meeting between the two sides went Boca's way: they faced off on April 19, 2026, and Boca won on the road by the narrowest of margins, with a goal from Leandro Paredes.
When they play: date, time and TV
The Superclasico is set for Tuesday, April 7 at 4:45 p.m. (ARG/URU/CHI) and 2:45 p.m. (COL/ECU/PER), also airing live on ESPN Premium and Disney+ Premium Plan for South America.
Between Boca's winning streak, River's need to avoid slipping up in the fight for a Libertadores spot, and the weight this matchup always carries, there are few excuses to miss it.
