Boca hosts Talleres at La Bombonera with unbeaten run on the line
Friday at 9:30 PM, the Xeneize arrive unbeaten in the Clausura while the "T" looks to turn around its uneven season.
La Bombonera is gearing up for another intense Friday of soccer. Boca hosts Talleres for matchday 13 of the 2026 Clausura Tournament, in a clash where the home side arrives unbeaten and the visitors need, one way or another, to change the look they've shown so far this season.
The match is set for Friday, October 16, kicking off at 9:30 PM (Argentina, Chile and Uruguay) and 7:30 PM (Colombia, Peru and Ecuador). The broadcast will be handled by TNT Sports for the Argentine audience and Disney+ for the rest of Latin America.
A matchup with plenty at stake
The "Xeneize" are fighting on every possible front in their pursuit of a 2026 title, so every point in the Clausura carries weight. On the other side, Talleres is going through a season far from what was expected of its roster, and the need for a turnaround grows more urgent by the week for the Cordoba side.
Boca comes in on solid footing in the tournament, with five wins and six draws and no losses, after playing to a 2-2 draw against Instituto in the previous round. But the squad's focus isn't only on the domestic competition. On Tuesday, under manager Rodolfo Arruabarrena, the team from La Ribera will travel to face Vasco Da Gama to decide who advances to the Copa Sudamericana final, after winning the first leg 1-0.
Talleres, meanwhile, arrives with morale bruised. Under Omar de Felippe, the team is coming off a scoreless draw against Independiente and has managed just one win in its last nine matches in the tournament, a stat that sums up the uneven season fairly well.
Names to watch
Boca has several players who tend to make the difference and are worth following closely: Lautaro Blanco, Leonel Flores, Santiago Ascacibar and Miguel Merentiel rank among the squad's standouts.
On the Cordoba side, Talleres leans on the form of Federico Fattori, Rick, Matias Galarza and Giovanni Baroni, key pieces if the "T" hopes to change the course of its season.
How things stood the last time they met
The most recent meeting between the two sides came on April 2, 2026, when Boca won by the minimum on the road thanks to a goal from Adam Bareiro. Now the scene shifts: this time it's at La Bombonera, with Boca at home and needing to keep its unbeaten run intact against an opponent that, despite its struggles, remains a demanding test.
Can Boca maintain its consistency while splitting its energy between the domestic tournament and the Sudamericana? Can Talleres find in Nunez the spark it so badly needs? The answers start to take shape this Friday at 9:30 PM.
