Colo Colo Holds On to a Point in Concepcion as Huachipato's Christian Bravo Stands Tall to Keep Streak Alive

That's how Colo Colo's trip to Concepcion played out, where Huachipato threw up a serious roadblock and walked away with a point that, for the "acereros," felt almost like a win. The "Cacique" couldn't find a way past the home defense at Estadio Ester Roa Rebolledo, but it added another point and remains without a loss in the 2026 Liga de Primera season.

The star of the afternoon wore a name of his own, even if he wasn't the one on the attack: Christian Bravo. Huachipato's young goalkeeper turned into a wall, stopping absolutely everything Colo Colo threw at him over the full ninety minutes. It was no surprise that the official broadcast named him man of the match.

What made it all the more striking is that Bravo walked into this game still shaken from a real scare. Just a week earlier, during Huachipato's away match against Coquimbo Unido, a loud firework thrown from the stands forced the game to be halted while the goalkeeper was taken to a medical center. Asked about that incident after the draw with Colo Colo, the keeper didn't mince words:

Bravo also pushed back against any attempt to pin collective blame on the fans for what happened in Coquimbo. "I don't blame the people, they were celebrating their anniversary. Maybe it was a mistake to throw it, but it's not the fans' fault. I don't think that because of one or two fans who threw the firework, everyone should be punished," he explained.

A Point That Feels Like a Prize for Huachipato

On the match itself, the goalkeeper was upfront about the game plan: they knew they'd have to grind it out. "We knew it was going to be a tough game, but we prepared based on what we knew about them. I feel like the team played well, everyone was at 100% and we were all locked in to try to get at least a point here on the road," he said. He added that they even dreamed of taking all three points: "It was going to be a game where we'd have to defend a lot, but we still had hope of getting a chance and scoring to take the three points. But we salvaged a point that matters, I feel like we're on the rise and we've put together two solid performances in a row."

On Colo Colo's side, the mood was upbeat despite not finding the net. Arturo Vidal, one of the squad's leaders, took to social media to celebrate the unbeaten streak as soon as the final whistle blew: "Still unbeaten, one more step toward star number 35. Let's go Colo Colo, damn it, we're at home everywhere," the midfielder posted on his Instagram account.

Still, Vidal will miss the next match: he was booked in Concepcion, picking up his eighth yellow card of the season, which triggers a suspension. The "Cacique" now turns its attention to hosting Deportes Concepcion at the Estadio Monumental in matchday 23, with an eye on the final eight rounds and staying in the title race.
