Cruz Azul Announces Signing of Alan Mozo From Pachuca to Bolster Right Back

Cruz Azul has finally solved the headache that had been dragging on since February. La Maquina officially announced the arrival of Alan Mozo, coming from Pachuca, to fill the right back spot, exactly the need that head coach Joel Huiqui had asked to address since the start of the transfer window.

The position had become something of a constant patch job. Ever since Jorge Sanchez left for PAOK of Greece back in February 2026, both Nicolas Larcamon and Huiqui himself had to improvise solutions. Larcamon even used Omar Campos, a natural left back, on the right side. Huiqui, for his part, tried out Jorge Rodarte, Jeremy Marquez and, more recently, Rogelio Gonzalez. None of them ever really settled into the role, so the front office decided it was time to go to the market and find a specialist.

A Negotiation Involving Two Clubs

The deal was not simple, since it involved two clubs. Cruz Azul negotiated directly with Pachuca, the team Mozo had joined just for the Clausura 2026, but also had to sit down with Chivas, the original holder of his rights. Guadalajara ended up approving the transfer to the cement makers, which fully unlocked the signing ahead of Matchday 6 of the Apertura 2026.

In fact, talks were so far along that Benjamin Mora decided to leave Mozo out of Chivas's squad list for the match against Cruz Azul, so as not to expose the player while the front offices ironed out the final details of the transfer.

With this move, Alan Mozo becomes La Maquina's third official signing for this Apertura 2026, joining Juan Calero and Alan Montes, two additions that have so far carried little weight in the starting lineup under Huiqui.

For the fullback, this signing also represents a homecoming: he returns to play in Mexico City and will wear the jersey of his fourth club in Liga MX. His career began at Pumas, then took him to Chivas, then to Pachuca, and now lands him at Cruz Azul.

His stint with the Tuzos, however, was not free of complications. Injuries hit him hard, and he was only able to play in eight matches, contributing one assist. Now, Cruz Azul fans hope that, free of physical setbacks, Mozo can bring the stability that has been so badly missing on that flank in recent months.
