Daniel Muñoz signs for Nottingham Forest, could debut this weekend against Tottenham

Daniel Muñoz has a new club, and he could be making his debut almost right away. The Colombian fullback has signed with Nottingham Forest, and everything points to his first appearance in the new shirt coming this weekend, at home against Tottenham Hotspur, no less.

The move carries real weight when you consider where he's coming from. Muñoz leaves Crystal Palace after three seasons in which he became a regular starter and picked up three trophies: the FA Cup, the Community Shield, and, on the continental stage, the Conference League. Few Colombian fullbacks can boast a trophy case like that in England, so he arrives at Forest carrying the label of a winner, not just a player with Premier League experience.

Muñoz himself didn't hide his excitement once the transfer was confirmed. He spoke about a locker room full of big names and his eagerness to get on the pitch as soon as possible:

A tough start to the league season

Muñoz's arrival comes at a time when Forest is struggling out of the gate this season. The team has just one point from two matches and sits 14th in the table. In the most recent round, they salvaged a valuable 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield, a result that feels more like a consolation than an ideal starting point.

Against that backdrop, the timing of his debut carries extra weight. If everything goes as planned, Muñoz will wear the Forest shirt for the first time on Saturday, September 5, at home against Tottenham, in matchday three of the Premier League. He'll wear number 27 on his back, and with it, the chance to give Forest a different look out wide, something the club badly needs if it wants to pull away from the bottom of the table as soon as possible.
