Ángel Di María confirms he's staying at Rosario Central after clearing up doubts following Libertadores exit

El Fideo clarified on Instagram that his comments about leaving were said in the heat of the moment, with no decision actually made.

One Instagram post was enough to calm things down. Ángel Di María came out to clarify his words after Rosario Central's elimination from the Copa Libertadores and confirmed what many fans needed to hear: he's staying at the club, focused on what's still ahead this season.

It all started with a 1-0 loss to Corinthians in Brazil, a result that knocked Central out of the continental tournament. After the match, el Fideo spoke with ESPN and his answers set off alarm bells. He described the tie as even, lamented the chances missed in the first leg, and when asked about his future, left everything up in the air: "It's a tough moment, because my dream was different, what I wanted was different, to be able to continue, but that's soccer." Asked what he'd do from here, he answered bluntly: "Now I'll have to think it over and figure out what I want to keep doing."

Those words, said in the heat of the moment with the elimination still fresh, set off all kinds of speculation about a possible exit. But the player himself toned things down just a day later.

El Fideo's clarification

In his post, Di María started by acknowledging the blow: "A tough moment, a moment where I'm not quite sure what to say. It's a hard hit given everything we've been building and growing as a club, as a group, as a team, as a family." He also set aside a separate paragraph for the fans, who kept cheering even after the result was already sealed.

Thank you for being with us, for backing us and for continuing to cheer even after we'd already lost. Seeing you there nonstop like we'd gone through was incredibleÁngel Di María

But the part everyone was waiting for was the one that cleared up doubts about his future at the club. There, he was direct: he admitted his earlier comments had come out of frustration and anguish in the moment, not as a decision he'd made.

But this is a comma, not a period, because there's still a lot left to fight for. I'm not walking away, what I said came from the anguish of the moment, that's allÁngel Di María

He closed the message with a clear commitment to the rest of the season: "We're going to keep fighting for everything that's coming, and without giving up we'll go all together until the end. Let's go, Central of my life."

The elimination stings, especially because the team had been showing steady growth and the continental dream felt real. But with this message, Di María clears up any uncertainty about his immediate future: he remains a Canalla, fully committed to what's next.
