Emily Fox signs three-year contract extension with Arsenal

Good news in north London: Emily Fox has signed a new deal with Arsenal. The club confirmed the move, and a source told ESPN that the American right back's new contract runs for three more years.

This is no ordinary player to keep hold of. Fox joined the club in January 2024 and has since turned into someone few would argue with leaving out of the lineup. She has racked up 93 appearances in Arsenal colors, and this season she hasn't missed a minute as a starter, opening all three league matches the team has played so far. She was also part of the squad that lifted the Women's Champions League in 2025, as well as the Women's Champions Cup earlier this year.

Fox herself made her feelings known in a statement to the club's media team, with the kind of tone that suggests the locker room already feels like home:

I'm really happy to extend my stay here. This has felt like home from the moment I arrived, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to keep representing this club and competing for trophies. At 28 years old, Fox recently finished 25th in the 2025 Ballon d'Or Feminin voting and is already back among the nominees for this year's award. That individual recognition comes alongside this collective vote of confidence from the club.

She's far from alone in that regard. The right back joins a list that over the past six months has already grown to include Leah Williamson, Stina Blackstenius and Caitlin Foord, all locking in new deals of their own. Arsenal appears to be securing the core of the group that has delivered its recent trophies, and Fox now sits firmly within that circle.

A start to the season that hasn't quite convinced

The new deal comes, however, at a moment when the team isn't exactly firing on all cylinders. Arsenal has had an uneven start to the Women's Super League campaign, with two draws in three matchdays. In the Champions League, the Gunners needed a stoppage time penalty just to get past HB Koge in Tuesday's opener, hardly a comfortable outing.

The schedule offers no breathing room either: Chelsea, the perennial rival in the English league, arrives this coming Sunday. With Fox now committed to the project for three more years, at least one piece of the starting eleven is no longer in question heading into that kind of fixture.
