Fernando Ortiz has offers from Mexican clubs but wants to win the title with Colo Colo first

He did so right in the middle of Superclasico week, with Universidad de Chile as Sunday's opponent, adding extra spice to an announcement that could have waited. "It's true that clubs from Mexico and other parts of the world called him. Also midway through the year," the agent admitted in a conversation with La Tercera.

The key word there is "also." According to Gonzalez himself, the interest in Ortiz isn't new: it dates back to midseason, when the team didn't yet have the title as close as it does today. That says a lot about how the Argentine coach is viewed from outside, even during stretches when Colo Colo wasn't at its best.

Still, what's interesting isn't so much the offer itself as the response. And on that front, the agent was clear about what the coach's priority is at this point in the season.

The renewal can wait

Regarding the long-term future, the message was also direct. There's no rush on either side, at least in the official messaging. "When the board sees fit, we'll look into a possible renewal process," Gonzalez stated, leaving the door open without committing to anything concrete yet.

That leaves Colo Colo in a comfortable spot for now, though with an issue pending that will need to be resolved sooner or later. If the title arrives this weekend, or in the coming matchdays, the question about Ortiz's future will only grow louder. For now, the plan is simple: first the Cup, then everything else.
