Harry Kane One Step Away From Bayern Munich Extension Through 2029
The English striker, who has scored 154 goals in 156 games for the club, is negotiating a contract extension that is reportedly close to being finalized, according to Eberl and Kompany.

Harry Kane rarely misses in front of goal, and it looks like he isn't about to miss out on staying in Munich either. According to ESPN, the English striker is close to signing a new contract with Bayern Munich that would keep him at the club through 2029, another chapter in a love story that began in 2023 and, by all accounts, still has plenty of life left in it.
Kane's current deal runs through June 2027, but the player himself has said time and again that his plan is to stay in Germany. The signals coming from inside the club point in the same direction. Sporting director Max Eberl said on Friday that talks were progressing well, and a source confirmed to ESPN that the agreement is essentially done.
Still, Eberl was careful not to rush toward an official announcement:
I read the same thing, but I haven't heard anything. What I said Tuesday still stands today: there are good talks, we're hopeful, but there's nothing to announce yet.Max Eberl
He wasn't the only voice from the club to address the matter. Head coach Vincent Kompany, speaking ahead of the match against Leipzig, was asked about the progress of the negotiations and responded in much the same tone as his sporting director: talks are moving forward, but nothing has been signed or is ready to be made public.
A romance with legendary numbers
Since arriving in 2023, Kane has made the Bundesliga his own. He's already won two league titles and a DFB-Pokal in Bavarian colors, but his impact also shows up in individual numbers that stand out even by the standards of a natural-born finisher like him. The Englishman is, remarkably, the fastest player to reach 100 goals in the history of German football: it took him just 98 matches to hit that mark.
And it doesn't stop there. In total, Kane has racked up 154 goals in 156 appearances for Bayern, a scoring rate that explains why the club has no intention of letting him go. That kind of production has also put him among the top candidates for the Ballon d'Or, which will be awarded on October 26.
The striker himself addressed the topic a few weeks ago while on international duty with England, making clear there's no hesitation on his end:
The talks are going well. I've been pretty open and honest about that. We're still in discussions now and I think they're moving in the right direction. Both sides have been very relaxed about it. Everyone can see I'm happy there, the way I'm performing, the way I talk off the field. I think it's just about being open and honest. Hopefully something gets done.Harry Kane
With Eberl and Kompany urging patience but not denying that a deal is getting closer, everything suggests Munich will remain Kane's home for years to come.
