Luis Díaz's remarkable record against Leipzig ahead of Saturday's clash

Some opponents, without meaning to, end up becoming a player's favorite target. For Luis Díaz, that seems to be the case with RB Leipzig. This Saturday, October 17, the Colombian will add another chapter to that history when Bayern Munich hosts the German side at the Allianz Arena in matchday six of the Bundesliga. Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m. (Colombia time), and the match will air on ESPN and Disney+ Premium.

What makes this stand out is that it is not just a lucky streak. Since joining Bayern, Díaz has faced Leipzig on four occasions, and his team has celebrated all four times. His personal numbers are just as striking: three goals and two assists, with performances that genuinely made the difference in three of those matches.

His calling card was, without question, the flashiest of them all. It happened on August 22, 2025, in his official Bundesliga debut, when Bayern thrashed Leipzig 6-0. Díaz didn't just score the second goal of the night, he also set up two assists for Harry Kane. A debut that's hard to forget.

A history that goes back further

Díaz's knack for Leipzig didn't start in Germany. Back in July 2022, wearing Liverpool's shirt, he was a key figure in a friendly that ended 0-5: he played 59 minutes and drew the penalty that Darwin Núñez converted to open his scoring tally that night, a match in which the Uruguayan went on to score four goals. Later, in October 2024, he again wore red when he came on as a substitute for Mohamed Salah in the Champions League, in a match Liverpool won 0-1 thanks to another Núñez goal. Once in Bavarian colors, beyond the August 2025 rout, there were more chapters: on January 17, 2026, Bayern came from behind in Leipzig to win 1-5 after trailing at halftime, though Díaz didn't register a goal or assist in that game. A month later, on February 11, in the German Cup, he showed up again, scoring the second goal just three minutes after Kane converted a penalty, a goal that sealed Bayern's spot in the semifinals. Then in preseason, on August 15, 2026, he opened the scoring in the 13th minute in Kompany's team's final friendly before the start of the campaign, a match that finished 3-1 in Bayern's favor.

In total, Díaz has scored in three of the four matches he has played for Bayern against Leipzig. Now, at the Allianz Arena, he'll have another chance to keep building that record against an opponent he knows well, both from his years at Liverpool and from his current run in the Bundesliga.
