Manchester City hosts PSG with revenge on the table in the Champions League
City arrives unbeaten and in scoring form in the Premier League, while PSG looks to Europe for the consistency it has yet to find in Ligue 1.
Some matches need no introduction, and this is one of them. Manchester City hosts PSG at the Etihad Stadium this Wednesday, October 14, in the second matchday of the Champions League league phase, and the matchup says it all: the tournament's reigning champion against one of the teams generating the most excitement in Europe.
Kickoff is set for 4:00 PM (Argentina, Uruguay, Chile) and 2:00 PM (Ecuador, Colombia, Peru), and fans in South America can catch it on Disney+'s Premium Plan.
City's form has been close to perfect. Pep Guardiola's side has won absolutely everything it has played this season, with the lone exception of the Community Shield decider against Arsenal. Rounding out the picture, City comes off a 3-0 thrashing of Liverpool in the Premier League, a result that keeps it atop the table with a perfect record.
PSG, on the other hand, is going through a rockier start domestically: the club currently sits sixth in Ligue 1, far from its usual standard. That said, in the Champions League there were no doubts in its opener, a 6-1 rout of Slovan Bratislava. And in the French league it hasn't lost a step either, coming off a 3-1 win over Le Mans.
The names to watch
For the Citizens, Gianluigi Donnarumma commands the goal, with Marc Guéhi and Ruben Dias forming the central defensive pairing. In midfield, Enzo Fernández and Elliot Anderson are tasked with linking play to Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland up front.
On the other side, PSG lines up with Matvey Safonov between the posts, with Marquinhos and Willian Pacho as the center back pairing. Vitinha and Joao Neves run the show in midfield, while the attacking trio is rounded out by Desiré Doué, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembélé.
Is there revenge in the air? The most recent meeting between the two sides left its mark on the English side: in the 2024/25 Champions League, PSG won 4-2 in Paris on January 22, 2025, with goals from Dembélé, Barcola, Joao Neves and Gonçalo Ramos. For City, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland pulled goals back that night, but it wasn't enough.
Now the setting shifts: this time it's at the Etihad, with a City side flying high domestically and a PSG squad that needs to confirm in Europe what it has yet to fully show in its own league.
