His brace against Barcelona in El Clásico put him among the five fastest players to reach a century of goals in club history.

Mbappé reaches 100 goals for Real Madrid in just 116 matches

One hundred goals. Stated plainly, that's the number now attached to Kylian Mbappé's name in Real Madrid history. He got there with a brace in last Sunday's Clásico against Barcelona, a performance that ended up being the cherry on top of a perfect night for the white shirts.

What stands out isn't just the number, but how quickly he reached it. Mbappé needed just 116 matches to hit 100 goals with the Merengues, a mark that already places him as the 23rd top scorer in club history. Among the current squad, Vinícius Júnior still has him beat: with 128 goals (13th on the all time list), he's the most prolific player wearing the white shirt today, followed by Mbappé himself, Rodrygo (71 goals) and Jude Bellingham (49).

Looking at the list of fastest players to reach the century mark, it's clear Mbappé is rubbing shoulders with giants of the game. Only four players got there in fewer matches: Ferenc Puskás (100 games), Cristiano Ronaldo (106), Pahíño (111) and Alfredo Di Stéfano (114). Behind him come legends like Hugo Sánchez, who needed 142 appearances, or Ronaldo Nazário, who got there in 163. In total, Mbappé is the 24th player to reach 100 goals for Real Madrid, and the fifth fastest to do it.

So how far is he from the top of these lists? Pretty far, honestly. Cristiano Ronaldo closed out his time in Madrid with 451 goals in 438 matches before leaving for Juventus. That means Mbappé would still need to score 352 more goals in 322 matches to match or surpass him. Put that way, it sounds simple: just a goal every 82 minutes of play. Just that.

After the match, Mbappé preferred to downplay his own feat and shift the focus to the team's result:

I'm very happy. Everyone knows I like scoring goals and helping the team that way. But I think today that's just a minor detail, because what matters most is the team's win and our success as a group.Kylian Mbappé

The Clásico euphoria, though, didn't last long. The very next day came the Ballon d'Or ceremony, and Mbappé fell just short: the trophy went to Harry Kane, while the Frenchman finished second, ahead of Lamine Yamal.

Despite being LaLiga's top scorer in his two full seasons at the club, Mbappé still hasn't won a major title with Real Madrid. And that, it shows, weighs on him just as much as the Ballon d'Or dream does. He made that clear after the win over Barcelona:

If we want to achieve things this year, we have to be a group. The quality is here. With the players we have, anyone who says the quality isn't here is lying. But we have to work as a team, that's how we'll get the things we want.Kylian Mbappé

The French forward's scoring streak this season leaves no doubt about his form: he has 14 goals in just 13 matches with Real Madrid so far this campaign. He joined the club in June 2024 as a free agent, after leaving Paris Saint-Germain with a staggering 256 goals in 308 matches, and 27 in 60 with AS Monaco before that.

The summer also left him as France's all time leading scorer and the top scorer in men's World Cup history, after netting 10 goals at the World Cup. Between the Clásico, his century of goals for Real Madrid and that runner-up finish at the Ballon d'Or, Mbappé's moment speaks for itself.
