Mbappé's Real Madrid future wobbles after Mourinho scolds him over bike videos
While the Frenchman weighs his options with Liverpool and Arsenal circling, the market is also buzzing with names like Julián Álvarez, Adrien Truffert and teenager Luca Williams-Barnett.
It's shaping up to be a busy week on the transfer market, and as usual, the name generating the most noise is Kylian Mbappé. According to L'Equipe, his future at Real Madrid is starting to look shaky. The 27-year-old forward picked up an injury playing for France during the international break, and while recovering, he posted videos on social media of himself cycling around Switzerland. The move didn't go down well: Madrid boss Jose Mourinho reportedly gave him a dressing down over it. With three years still left on his contract and no major silverware in the last two seasons, Mbappé is said to be starting to weigh his options. Liverpool and Arsenal have already been linked with a move for him before, though Madrid isn't willing to entertain offers below 200 million euros.
There's also movement in England among the younger crop of players. Luca Williams-Barnett, an 18 year old attacking midfielder in Tottenham's academy, has four heavyweight clubs chasing him: Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, according to The Sun. What stands out is that he's made just three first team appearances, all in the Carabao Cup, but that hasn't cooled interest in him. Tottenham itself is already working to tie him down with a contract extending beyond 2028, and his coach, Roberto De Zerbi, didn't hold back on what he thinks of him.

On Arsenal's side, the target remains Julián Álvarez. According to TEAMtalk, the Gunners are preparing a fresh offer for January for the Atlético Madrid forward, and would reportedly be willing to include Viktor Gyökeres or Noni Madueke as part of the deal. What's interesting is how the picture has shifted: Álvarez, who previously prioritized a move to Barcelona, is now said to be taking the Emirates option seriously, especially since Atlético has no intention of letting him leave for the Camp Nou. If he wants out, it'll have to be back to England.
Liverpool, meanwhile, has waded into another battle: the one for Adrien Truffert, the French left back at Bournemouth, where Manchester United is also sniffing around. The English club wants around 60 million pounds for the 24 year old, who arrived from Rennes in 2025 and hasn't stopped improving since. For the Reds, who already had to grind out a tough negotiation for Milos Kerkez, another complicated conversation looks to be on the horizon.
More moves to watch closely
Up in the north of England, Newcastle looks like the frontrunner to land Tyler Morton, the Lyon midfielder and former Liverpool player, with an eye on next summer, though Nottingham Forest is also tracking him closely for January. In Germany, Jarell Quansah, the Bayer Leverkusen defender, could be on the move in the summer with Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid all interested. Worth noting: Liverpool, his former club, holds a buyback clause worth 70 million euros valid until June 2027.
Among other rumors making the rounds: Barcelona is keeping tabs on Josh King, the young Fulham player who reportedly left Barça scouts "dazzled"; PSG is watching Manchester United's Leny Yoro; Declan Rice and Martin Ødegaard are moving forward with their contract renewals at Arsenal; Juventus received a loan offer for Lucas Bergvall; Inter already has its eye on Stuttgart's Finn Jeltsch for 2027; Bayern is considering signing a left winger in January to give Luis Díaz some rest; several Bundesliga clubs took notice of Espanyol's Roberto Fernández after his debut with Spain; Juventus is planning to make Guglielmo Vicario's move permanent; Matteo Darmian could join Bologna on a free transfer; and even a 15 year old, Niko Iličević of Eintracht Frankfurt, already has scouts from Newcastle, Bayern, Chelsea and Tottenham following him.
