Millonarios sets squad for clash with Nacional, no Cuadrado

The rivalry match is just around the corner, and Millonarios has just made its move. For this Thursday, September 24 game against Atletico Nacional, in matchday 12 of the 2026-II Liga BetPlay, coach Alberto Gamero has already settled on his 20-man squad. And there's one name that, no matter how hard you look, simply isn't on the list.

That name is Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, the club's big-name addition for this season, who has been left out of the squad for the match at the Atanasio Girardot, where kickoff is set for 7:30 pm. Fans hoping to see him debut in the blue jersey in that very stadium and atmosphere will have to wait a bit longer. Everything points to his official debut coming on Tuesday, September 29, when Millonarios visits Deportivo Independiente Medellin, also at the Atanasio.

Still, there's good news for the Millonarios faithful. Gamero is getting back players who had been regulars in the starting lineup before losing time to injury. That's the case for fullback Samuel Martin and forward Leonardo Castro, both back on the list after recovering from their respective injuries. Joining them is defender Jorge Arias, who has also been cleared physically and could be another option at the back.

Millonarios' 20 called-up players

In goal will be Burrai and Aguirre as the two options between the posts. The backline includes Sarabia, Martin, Barreiro, Sergio Mosquera, Arias, Banguero, Valencia and Llinas, a deep group that gives Gamero plenty of options depending on how he wants to set up the match.

In midfield there's Ruiz, Mackalister, Urena, Vega and Del Castillo, while up top the coach will have Estupinan, Chaverra, Castro, Angulo and Sebastian Mosquera as attacking options.

With this squad, Millonarios heads into one of the most anticipated matches of the season in Colombian soccer without its marquee signing, but with the relief of having back players who were regular starters before their injuries. The rivalry match against Atletico Nacional promises plenty, and all eyes will be on how Gamero distributes minutes across a squad that, little by little, is getting healthy right when it matters most.
