Nacional edges Peñarol in derby marked by tribute to Rubén Rada

The Campeón del Siglo dressed up for a celebration, but also for remembrance. Calvo's backheel breaks the deadlock

The blow to morale did not slow Nacional down. In the 24th minute, off a corner kick, Luciano Boggio connected on a strong header at the far post that left the ball sitting up inside the box. That is where Francisco Calvo showed up, and without a second thought he finished with a backheel, his back to the goal, to make it 1-0. It was the kind of finish that stays in the memory, even more so coming from a defender: it was Calvo's first goal in a Nacional jersey, and it came in nothing less than a derby.
