Pablo Trobbiani takes charge at Barcelona de Guayaquil with orders to start collecting points now
The new Spanish born, Argentine naturalized coach wants to push the team back into hexagonal contention through convincing performances on the field.

There's a change at the helm at Barcelona de Guayaquil. Following Cesar Farias's departure, the club has handed the project to Pablo Trobbiani, a Spanish born coach who later took Argentine citizenship, and he arrives with a clear message: leave the past behind and start collecting points right away.
The first test won't wait. This Saturday at 7:00 p.m., Barcelona travels to face Mushuc Runa in Latacunga for matchday 25 of the Liga Ecuabet, and that game has already become the new coach's immediate focus. In his presentation to the press, Trobbiani was direct about how he plans to approach this stretch of the season: without looking too far ahead.
We're going to take it game by game. It's better to think short term. First Mushuc Runa, and every match will be a final for us. We're going to go for the three points and, God willing, with the style of play we want to put in place. The players and coaching staff are convinced of that.Pablo Trobbiani
The priority, he explained, is to get Barcelona back into contention for the first hexagonal, a goal that had been slipping away over the last several matchdays. But the new coach isn't just talking about results, he also wants to give the fans back that desire to believe.
Reconnecting with the fans, without losing the game plan
Trobbiani stressed that the team needs to win back the fans through its play on the field before anything shows up on the scoreboard. His reasoning is simple: if the team is convincing, the results end up following on their own.
We have to make the fans fall in love through the way we play, and after that, if we play well, we have to win. That's what we're focused on. Barcelona needs immediate results, but always with a pretty clear idea in mind.Pablo Trobbiani
Asked about the previous coaching staff, he preferred not to get into specifics. His message was to turn the page quickly and put all the energy into what's ahead, making clear there would be no public assessment of the coaches who came before him.
On the soccer side, the coach laid out a specific philosophy: put each player in the position where he feels most comfortable and, from there, prioritize consistency in the lineup over constant rotation. He knows he has a squad with the level to compete, but his immediate task is to find the ideal starting eleven and stick with it over time, something he considers key to each player's individual confidence.
On the transfer market, Trobbiani was clear that he doesn't see a need to bring in new names, though he left the door open in case a departure comes up before the transfer window closes. For now, his plan is to work with the current squad.
The coach also said he was pleased with what he's seen in the first five training sessions, though he acknowledged there had been internal conversations about mistakes that need fixing. The goal, he said, is for the team to take the field with a clear methodology and with players who are fully bought into the plan.
