The American, Milan's top scorer in 2024-25, is adding four more years to a contract that still had two seasons left to run.

Pulisic to sign new Milan deal through 2031 despite having contract until 2027

Christian Pulisic had a contract through 2027 and nobody was pushing him to leave. Even so, he decided to tie himself even more closely to AC Milan. According to sources consulted by ESPN, the American is set to sign a contract extension through 2031, with an announcement expected in the coming days.

The new deal adds four more years to an agreement that had two seasons left on it. Pulisic, 28, joined the Rossoneri in 2023 from Chelsea for a fee of roughly 22 million euros (about $24.4 million). Since then he has become a player Milan simply doesn't want to lose.

The numbers back it up: 44 goals and 28 assists in 141 appearances in the Rossoneri shirt, on top of finishing the 2024-25 season as the club's leading scorer. That's no small feat in a career that took off in Europe back in 2015, when he signed with Borussia Dortmund and quickly built a reputation as one of the Bundesliga's most promising young talents. That form opened the door to Chelsea, who paid £58 million ($71.7M) for him in 2018 and with whom he went on to win the Champions League in 2021.

From injury struggles at Chelsea to a key man at Milan

In London, injuries repeatedly interrupted his rhythm. So when he decided to move on in 2023, Milan had to beat out Juventus, Lyon and Galatasaray to land him.

His first stretch in Italy wasn't easy either: an injury carried over from the World Cup caused him to miss much of Milan's preseason. But he worked his way back into the side gradually under Ruben Amorim, and today Pulisic is a fixture in the coach's setup, shifting between a playmaking role through the middle and out wide.

His impact with the US men's national team has been just as significant: 33 goals in 90 appearances, appearances at the 2022 and 2026 World Cups, and US Soccer's Male Player of the Year award in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023. It's a track record that explains why Milan preferred to lock him down now rather than wait for his contract to edge closer to its final year.
