Four losses in the last five games are hard to hide, and Real Salt Lake enters this MLS matchup carrying that weight. Standing across from them will be the Western Conference leader, a Vancouver Whitecaps FC side that has its own recent doubts but remains, by a clear margin, the team with the better numbers this season between the two. America First Field is set to host a match with more intrigue than the standings alone would suggest.

That gap in the table is considerable: 17 points separate the two sides in the West, where Vancouver sits first with 46 points and Real Salt Lake sits eleventh with 29.
