Santa Fe heads to Buenos Aires with 23 players to settle Sudamericana series against River
Repetto confirmed the roster for the round of 16 second leg, with Daniel Torres back and Hugo Rodallega leading the attack.

The scoreless draw at El Campin left the series wide open, and now Independiente Santa Fe has to go earn its spot in the Sudamericana quarterfinals deep in the Monumental. No cushion to carry with them, no room for comfort: the Leon is putting everything on the line in Buenos Aires, in front of a packed stadium and a River side that, even though it's not going through its best stretch, is still River on its home turf.
Pablo Repetto has already done his homework behind closed doors. The Uruguayan coach confirmed the 23 players who will travel to Argentina for the second leg of the round of 16, and the list brings news that will both ease and slightly worry fans in Bogota.
The good news centers on Daniel Torres, who returns to the squad after being sidelined with a concussion that kept him off the field. His comeback gives Repetto another option in midfield right when it matters most in this season's continental campaign. Also sticking around is Hugo Rodallega, the club's emblematic forward, who once again answers the call when the team needs experience and know-how up top.
That said, putting the list together wasn't without its headaches. Repetto had to deal with a few significant absences along the way and lost some important pieces, though he managed to hold together a competitive base to fight for the series on the road. Settling an international tie with a full squad is a different story than doing it short-handed, and that's exactly the challenge facing the Santa Fe coaching staff heading into the Monumental.
The full squad list
Asprilla and Contreras will man the goal, while the back line is made up of Olivera, Palacios, Puerta, Scarpetta, Caicedo, Angulo, Mafla, Zuniga and Moreno. In midfield, Repetto can count on Daniel Torres, Toscano, Palacios, Zapata, Lovero and Jhojan Torres. Up front, the attacking responsibility falls on Hugo Rodallega, Obrian, Fagundez, Bustos, Palacios and Portocarrero.
The overall picture shows a squad with resources across every line, though with no margin for error. Santa Fe knows that conceding a goal in Buenos Aires would force them to come from behind, so the plan is to go out and compete on equal terms, make the most of the individual talent still available, and avoid giving away space against a rival that, despite not being at its best, always raises its level at home in the Monumental.
The draw in Bogota left mixed impressions: there were stretches of control in the match, but also a lack of sharpness to take a lead to Argentina. Now, with the roster locked in and the names confirmed, the Leon will have to settle on the field what it couldn't decide at home.
