Toluca Routs Juarez 4-0 at the Nemesio Diez in a Display of Total Control
Toluca settled the match in nine minutes, dominating in possession, shots and expected goals.

It took Toluca just nine minutes to set a rout in motion that finished 4-0 over Juarez at Estadio Nemesio Diez. Helinho opened the scoring with a left-footed strike off a cross from Everardo Lopez, and from there the game never had any storyline other than the complete dominance of the Diablos Rojos.
The first half could have been even more lopsided. In the 16th minute, Oswaldo Virgen thought he had scored, but VAR overturned the call, and two minutes later came the official confirmation: no goal. Toluca did not let the review rattle them and found their reward through misfortune of a different kind: in the 33rd minute, Jesus Murillo turned the ball into his own net to make it 2-0 before halftime. In between, Virgen had rattled a shot off the crossbar, a sign that the pressure was never letting up.
In the second half, with the substitutions already made and the match effectively decided, Toluca stretched the lead with two goals in just six minutes. In the 72nd minute, Oswaldo Virgen made up for his disallowed goal by burying a low shot just inside the post to make it 3-0. Shortly after, in the 78th minute, Federico Vinas connected with a Virgen cross for the final 4-0, a scoreline that held for the roughly fifty remaining minutes of substitutions and formality.
A Match With No Argument in the Numbers
The statistics confirm what was clear on the field: a one-sided affair. Toluca racked up 64.7% possession and fired 26 shots to Juarez's 6, with an even wider gap in shots on target.
| Stat | Toluca | Juarez |
|---|---|---|
| Possession (%) | 64.7 | 35.3 |
| Shots | 26 | 6 |
| Shots on target | 9 | 2 |
| Corners | 5 | 3 |
| Passes | 665 | 360 |
| Fouls committed | 11 | 8 |
The expected goals figures calculated after the match back up that superiority: 3.22 for Toluca against just 0.29 for Juarez, a gap that reflects an afternoon in which the home side not only controlled the ball but kept turning that control into clear-cut chances.
What Was Expected and What Happened
The buildup already pointed to a clear gap: our projection gave Toluca a 74% chance of winning, compared to 16% for a draw and just 10% for Juarez, with expected goals of 2.73 for the home side and 0.93 for the visitors. The result not only confirmed that forecast, it blew past it: four goals scored and none conceded made even the most favorable expectations for the Diablos Rojos look modest.
The win puts Toluca in second place in Liga MX, with 13 points from 6 matches played, just three behind leaders Club America. Juarez, meanwhile, remain without a win: they sit at the bottom of the table with no points from six matches, a 13-point gap to Toluca that this match only underlined.
For Toluca, the performance at the Nemesio Diez leaves the impression of a team that cruised to victory even after having a goal wrongly disallowed. For Juarez, the task remains finding a way to stop bleedings like this one before the season slips away entirely.
