Transfermarkt sends Diomande's value soaring while Vinícius takes a hit in LaLiga's latest update

The Ivorian winger leads the biggest jump in the rankings at $134.3 million, while the Brazilian slips to $145.5 million amid a rough patch of form.

Transfermarkt sends Diomande's value soaring while Vinícius takes a hit in LaLiga's latest update

While Real Madrid puts the finishing touches on things after the international break, another scoreboard that matters was also shifting over at Transfermarkt: market values. The specialist site updated the valuations of 153 LaLiga players this week, and the list tells a couple of stories worth telling.

The most eye catching one has an Ivorian name attached to it: Yan Diomande. The winger, just 19 years old, shot up to $134.3 million after adding $33.5 million to his previous valuation. That's the single biggest rise anywhere on the list.

Surprised? Not really, if you remember how the market moved for him a few months back. Tobias Blaseio, who heads up Transfermarkt's LaLiga valuations, put it this way:

The young winger was one of the most sought after players in the last transfer window. Real Madrid managed to sign him for an amount other clubs would have also paid. He has excellent qualities to become a decisive player. Right now he's still in an adjustment phase, but other big Madrid talents also struggled at the start.Tobias Blaseio

Right behind him comes another teammate: Carlos Espí. The forward climbed $22.3 million and now carries a valuation of $44.7 million. Not bad at all for someone still building his name at the top level.

The third name in the mix also wears the white shirt: Arda Güler. The Turkish midfielder gained $11.1 million in this update and reached a value of $112 million, confirming that his progress hasn't gone unnoticed by those crunching these numbers.

The flip side: Vinícius loses ground

It wasn't all gains for Madrid players. Vinícius Júnior suffered the sharpest drop of the update, going from $156.7 million to $145.5 million. A markdown that, according to Transfermarkt, comes with more than just a numbers explanation.

Blaseio didn't mince words about the Brazilian's current form:

Vinícius's trend keeps heading downward; he's far from his best performances, and not even the long awaited contract renewal from a few weeks ago seems to have changed that dynamic. The Brazilian has been part of many of Real Madrid's successes; now we'll have to see if he brings his footballing qualities back to the forefront and, in doing so, pushes other storylines into the background.Tobias Blaseio

It's worth remembering that these market values aren't hard cash that would actually change hands in a transfer: they come from pricing models that blend performance, age, contract status and context. But as a thermometer for how each player is perceived at a given moment in the calendar, they say quite a bit. And in this case, they paint a picture of a Madrid side with rising youth (Diomande, Espí, Güler) and a growing question mark over one of its key figures from recent years.
