Víctor Dávila is a month away from returning to América, but his fate hinges on the transfer market
The Chilean forward has completed rehab from a torn ACL, but he will only be registered if the club fails to land the attacking reinforcements it's chasing.

One month. That's roughly how much time Víctor Dávila has left before he can step onto a field under normal conditions again. The Chilean has been out since March with a torn ACL in his right knee, suffered in the middle of the Clausura 2026, and according to América's medical staff, the home stretch of his recovery is now in sight.
If everything goes according to plan, the forward will end up sidelined for roughly six months by the time he gets the final green light. That's not an unusual timeline. Knee injuries of this kind tend to run this long, and the club has preferred not to rush any part of the process.
What's interesting is what could happen next. Dávila wasn't registered for any of the competitions América is currently playing, not Liga MX, not Leagues Cup. But that could change soon, and not necessarily because the Chilean is ready to jump right back into action, but because of what happens, or doesn't happen, in the transfer market.
The real story is in the reinforcements that haven't arrived
América's front office knows exactly what it wants: a center forward and a right winger. That's the number one priority of the summer. The problem is that there are just over two weeks left in the transfer window, and neither of those additions has been finalized yet.
That's where Dávila comes in. If América can't get those attacking signings done, the idea of registering him for the rest of the season would gain real traction. It wouldn't be plan A, more like an emergency option, but a genuine one nonetheless.
For now, though, the Chilean's return isn't among the club's priorities. In fact, the organization has been exploring options for him in other leagues, even though his contract with the Águilas runs through the summer of 2027. In other words, there's plenty of time on the deal, but also a willingness to make a move if the right opportunity comes along.
While his future gets sorted out, Dávila hasn't been sitting on the sidelines doing nothing. He trains regularly with the squad and has been working his way into the routine set by the new coaching staff. He traveled to Spain for preseason and also joined the team for the first phase of the Leagues Cup in the United States, though only as a spectator watching from the sideline.
Will he end up wearing the América jersey again before the year is out? All signs point to an answer that depends less on his knee and more on the market. If the reinforcements arrive, Dávila will keep waiting for his moment. If they don't, he could become the solution the club had tucked away up its sleeve.
