Argentina Still Rules Serie A: Lautaro Martinez, Paz, Molina and More Than 20 Players on Italian Soil

Lautaro Martinez remains the standard bearer for Argentine soccer in Italy, joined by Paz, Molina, Mastantuono and other names in a key year where Parma hosts the largest group of Albiceleste players.

Every time Serie A kicks off, one ritual never fails: counting how many Argentines are scattered across Italian soil. This 2026/27 season the number is high again, with heavyweight names and a few fresh faces looking to carve out a place in one of the toughest leagues in the world.

The player still carrying the flag, as he has done since 2018, is Lautaro Martinez. The scorer and captain of Inter arrives fresh off the 2026 World Cup and is aiming for even more: he wants back to back titles with the Nerazzurri and to keep up the level that has made him the absolute reference point of Italian attacking soccer in recent years.

Another player looking to repeat last season's form is Nico Paz. After playing his first World Cup with the national team, the midfielder stayed at Como, which this time will have the added bonus of competing in the Champions League on top of the domestic battle. In midfield he will once again be paired with Maximo Perrone, with whom he already built a strong partnership.

Molina at Roma and Mastantuono at Fiorentina

Nahuel Molina is another World Cup winner on the move: he joins Roma from Atletico Madrid aiming to recover his best form as a right back. There he will share the locker room with fellow Argentines Paulo Dybala, Matias Soule and Santiago Castro, the club's latest signing in the Italian capital.

One of the moves drawing the most attention is that of Franco Mastantuono. At just 18 years old, the former River Plate player joins Fiorentina on loan from Real Madrid, a club that already knows what it means to have an Argentine setting the team's pace. He will have Mateo Pellegrino alongside him up front, arriving from Parma.

After a loan spell at Atletico Madrid, Nicolas Gonzalez returns to Juventus, where he will try to earn a starting spot after being part of the World Cup squad.

Parma, the club with the most Argentines

If there is one team that gathers the largest Albiceleste contingent, it is Parma. There, Mariano Troilo, David Romero, Christian Ordonez, Lautaro Valenti and Franco Carboni all coexist, playing for the Emilia-Romagna club.

Among the newcomers is Mikel Mondarain, leaving Estudiantes de La Plata to try his luck at Bologna, a club that until recently had Benjamin Dominguez in its ranks, now at Sassuolo.

Rounding out the Argentine presence in Serie A are Giovanni Simeone, forward for Torino; Santiago Pierotti, attacker for Lecce; and Matias Moreno, defender for Venezia. Between familiar faces and young prospects, Argentine soccer continues to carry enormous weight in Italy, and this season promises to keep that tradition alive.
