Barcelona's Champions League Streak: 17 Straight Games Without a Clean Sheet

Since the 4-0 win over Dortmund in April 2025, Flick's side has conceded in every European match, though their attack (48 goals in that span) keeps delivering wins.

Barcelona's Champions League Streak: 17 Straight Games Without a Clean Sheet

Winning big while still leaving doubts behind. That's the trademark Hansi Flick's Barcelona has carried in the Champions League for well over a year now. The 1-4 win over Galatasaray kept the points and the confidence flowing up front, but it also confirmed something that's getting harder to ignore: the Barca goal hasn't gone unbeaten in 17 straight matches in the competition.

To find the last time Barcelona kept a clean sheet in the Champions League, you have to go back to April 9, 2025. That was the first leg of the 2024/2025 quarterfinals, when the Catalan side thrashed Borussia Dortmund 4-0. That night looked like the start of a solid run toward the title. In reality, it was the last gasp of a defense that hasn't shut the door in Europe since.

What's striking is how that clean sheet streak actually ended: in the very return leg of that same quarterfinal, when Dortmund hit back with a 3-1 win that wasn't enough for the comeback (the aggregate finished 5-3 in Barcelona's favor). Barcelona advanced to the semifinals, where Inter eventually knocked them out, but from that match in Germany onward, the story changed: they've never again come through a European game unscathed.

A streak that keeps growing

The 2025/2026 season only added fuel to that statistic. Barcelona conceded in all eight matches of the league phase and kept the same pattern through the six games of the knockout rounds, until Atletico Madrid brought their European run to an end. Not a single clean sheet the entire campaign.

With the start of the 2026/2027 edition, the trend remains unchanged. Flick's side opened with a 5-1 rout of Feyenoord and then came that 1-4 result against Galatasaray, now the 17th match in a row in which the Barca backline has been breached in European competition.

What stands out is that this fragility coexists with an attack that just keeps producing. Across those 17 matches, Barcelona has scored 48 goals while conceding 32, a balance that explains why the team keeps winning despite the defensive cracks: nine wins, three draws and five losses in that stretch. Is outscoring the opponent enough to sustain a title bid? For now, it's worked for Barcelona, though the streak is a reminder that no goal is truly safe once they take the field in Europe.
