Barcelona demolishes Valencia with 0-5 rout at Mestalla

It took Barcelona five minutes to get ahead at Mestalla, and ninety to make clear there would be no way back for the home side. The final score, 0-5, leaves Valencia buried at the bottom of the table and confirms a rout that was already taking shape almost from the opening whistle.

Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the 5th minute with an angled finish from the right, set up by Fermin Lopez, and two minutes later he nearly made it two: VAR ruled out a second goal after reviewing an offside position. Valencia barely had time to regroup before, in the 21st minute, Fermin Lopez did find the net, this time assisted by Anthony Gordon, making it 0-2 at the break.

In between there were flashes from a Valencia side with no real answer: Arnaut Danjuma tried his luck a couple of times in the first half without success, and Rodri crashed a header off the crossbar in the second, the closest thing to a scare Barcelona faced all match.
