Bodø/Glimt and Lille Play to Scoreless Draw in Low-Thrills Champions League Clash
Despite entering as favorites, Bodø/Glimt couldn't get past a Lille side that created more chances but remains winless in the competition.

Four shots on target from Bodø/Glimt and two from Lille weren't enough to break the deadlock at Aspmyra Stadion: the match ended 0-0, a result that leaves both sides feeling they left points on the table in the Champions League.
The script didn't play out as expected. Before kickoff, Bodø/Glimt were given a 57% chance of winning, compared to just 19% for Lille and 24% for a draw, with expected goals set at 2.01 for the home side and 1.09 for the visitors. None of that held up: the Norwegian club failed to turn its favorite status into goals, and the French side, despite playing away, ended up being the team that pushed forward more into the opposing box.
A Scoreless Match, But Not a Chanceless One
The first half was shaped more by fouls than by genuine goal-scoring chances. The first real warning sign didn't come until the 7th minute, when a shot from Soriba Diaoune flew high and wide. Past the half-hour mark, Lille began to show more clearly: in the 30th minute, Dilane Bakwa tried his luck with his left foot from the center of the box and was denied by the home goalkeeper, and two minutes later Hákon Haraldsson fired a shot from outside the area that was also saved. The first half closed scoreless, with no stoppage time added and the 0-0 intact.
In the second half, Lille pushed harder. Between the 54th and 62nd minutes, they strung together several chances: a header from Nathan Ngoy that missed wide at the far post, a close-range header from Tanguy Nianzou that sailed over the bar, and two more shots, from Sondre Fet (for Bodø/Glimt) and Maurits Kjærgaard, both stopped under the crossbar by the goalkeepers. Bodø/Glimt answered with attempts from Sondre Auklend, Ole Didrik Blomberg and Odin Bjørtuft, all blocked by the defense or the visiting keeper, while Benjamin André came close to breaking the tie in the 87th minute with a header that grazed the post.
What the Numbers Say
Possession was split almost evenly, but the shot count told a different story, clearly favoring Lille, who created more chances though with less accuracy than the home side.
| Stat | Bodø/Glimt | Lille |
|---|---|---|
| Possession (%) | 50.8 | 49.2 |
| Shots | 4 | 9 |
| Shots on Target | 4 | 2 |
| Corners | 3 | 4 |
| Passes | 560 | 534 |
| Fouls Committed | 12 | 8 |
The shots on target column tells a curious story: Bodø/Glimt put all four of their attempts on frame, while Lille, with nearly double the total shots, only managed to hit the target twice. In a post-match expected goals estimate based on shot location, the home side finished with 0.79 and the visitors with 0.52, figures that confirm neither team generated enough danger to make the draw a surprise.
Pre-match projections pointed to a much higher-scoring affair with Bodø/Glimt as the clear favorite. None of that showed up on the scoreboard: the combined 3.1 expected goals never materialized, and the home side couldn't assert its home-field advantage despite playing in front of its own fans.
What It Means for the Standings
In the table, Bodø/Glimt arrive at this result with a record of one win, one draw and two losses so far in the competition, while Lille have just one draw and three losses, still without a win. The draw doesn't change much for either side, both of whom still need wins to climb toward the top of a table that, with Paris Saint-Germain as the only team with a perfect record, looks tough for those near the bottom.
In the end, a 0-0 that leaves more questions than answers: Bodø/Glimt couldn't break down the defensive solidity Lille showed, and the French side, despite picking up a point on the road, still haven't found a win in the competition.
