The match between Cruz Azul and Santos was originally set to kick off at 8:00 p.m. at Estadio Banorte. But on Liga MX's official platform, it now shows a new time: 5:00 p.m., that same Sunday. The reason? To keep the game from overlapping with the big final between Toluca and Monterrey.

That final, which kicks off at 7:15 p.m., carries extra weight: it will crown the first Mexican champion of the Leagues Cup in its modern era. Under Cruz Azul's original schedule, both matches would have overlapped almost entirely, something the Cruz Azul front office chose not to risk, likely mindful of not pulling attention away from a game expected to draw a massive audience.

Still, the change didn't fix everything. The third-place match between America and Leon kicks off at 4:00 p.m., so there will still be some overlap with Cruz Azul-Santos, which starts an hour later. Not every conflict could be avoided, but at least the clash with the tournament's headline event was averted.

Houston Hosts the Grand Finale

The two matches closing out the Leagues Cup will be played in Houston, at Shell Energy Stadium, as part of a doubleheader bringing together the third-place game and the final on the same day. The choice of city is no accident: Houston is home to one of the largest Mexican communities in the United States, and a strong turnout is expected to watch Toluca and Monterrey battle for the title.

The tournament kicked off with 36 teams from MLS and Liga MX, and now reaches its final stretch with four Mexican semifinalists fighting for the three remaining spots up for grabs.
