Chile now has two representatives in the most watched league on the planet. Darío Osorio has signed with Crystal Palace, giving Chilean soccer an active double presence in the Premier League again after a long wait for this kind of news.

This is no ordinary club taking him in. Palace comes off winning the biggest title in its history, the UEFA Conference League 2025-26, after beating Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in the final. A first European trophy for the Eagles, no less. But the start of the league campaign told a different story: losses to Everton and Manchester City in the first two matchdays made it clear reinforcements were urgently needed, and that's where Osorio came in, alongside two other names, defender Ben Chilwell and midfielder Quinten Timber.

The Chilean arrives from Midtjislland... well, from Danish side Midtjylland, where he had been showing the kind of left-wing dribbling that got him an early debut at U de Chile before heading abroad. He's 22 years old and now steps up to another level of demand, the highest that exists at club level.

Osorio versus Núñez, a duel with national team flavor

The interesting part is that Osorio doesn't arrive alone to this select club of Chileans in the Premier League. Marcelino Núñez, formerly of Universidad Católica, was already there at newly promoted Ipswich Town. Both are regulars for the Chilean national team, have crossed paths in training microcycles and call-ups, and now could face each other as rivals in the world's most competitive league.

Ipswich hasn't had it easy since returning to the top flight: they won their opener, but then fell 5-2 to Manchester United in the second matchday. So both clubs arrive needing points when they meet.

That direct matchup between Palace and Ipswich is set for September 12, at 11:00 a.m. Chile time, for matchday 4 of the Premier League. That's where the first duel between Osorio and Núñez wearing their clubs' colors could take place, something that will be followed with special attention back in Chile.

When could he make his debut?

Before that date, Osorio has two possible windows to make his debut if French manager Pierre Sage decides to start him. The first is September 5, when Palace visits Fulham for the third league matchday. The second comes three days later, at home against Middlesbrough for matchday 3 of the EFL Cup.

If he adapts quickly, the Chilean could see minutes almost immediately. Palace's schedule offers no rest: league play, the domestic cup and, further down the road, defending their title in the upcoming UEFA Europa League 2026-27. Osorio arrives just as the club needs fresh legs to keep up that pace.
