Darío Osorio joins the Premier League after signing with Crystal Palace from Midtjylland
The Chilean forward sealed his move away from the Danish club in the final hours of the transfer window to compete in one of the toughest leagues in the world.
Another Chilean is heading to the Premier League. Darío Osorio completed his exit from Danish side Midtjylland to become the newest player at Crystal Palace, a deal that came together in the closing hours of the European transfer window and one that puts him, with only a few years of experience in European soccer, in one of the most demanding leagues on the planet.
The forward, born in Hijuelas, wasted no time sharing his excitement. As soon as the London club confirmed the move on social media, Osorio sat down for his first interview as a Palace player and didn't hide what this step means to him.
I feel very excited, eager to start training and to meet my teammates. I'm really happy about this move.Darío Osorio
The Chilean international went further into what it means to wear the Crystal Palace shirt, making it clear this transfer is no small thing for his career.
I'm really thrilled to be joining the Premier League. It's a dream I've had since I was a kid, and I'm eager to get out there and play.Darío Osorio
A team player
Beyond the personal excitement, Osorio also addressed what he can bring on the field to the squad managed by the English club. The Chilean described himself as a player built for collective effort rather than individual flair, a message that sounds aimed squarely at the locker room he's about to join.
"My strength is that I like playing for the team, more than individually. I always want to contribute to the group and help win matches at every moment. I've been waiting my whole life for this challenge. For me, it's a personal challenge and a soccer challenge as well," explained the forward, well aware that he's arriving to compete for a spot on a squad at the European level.
Osorio leaves behind his time at Midtjylland, the Danish club where he got playing time and international experience, to test himself now in a league of a different caliber. The jump is significant: moving from the Danish Superliga to the Premier League means a considerable increase in physical and competitive demands, something the player himself appears to understand clearly.
Before wrapping up the interview, the Chilean wanted to send a message to Crystal Palace fans, who will soon see him make his debut in the club's shirt.
It's hard to know what to say, but I want to tell them that I'm really excited to be joining this club, and I hope to meet them soon out on the pitch.Darío Osorio
Now the focus shifts to the field: adapting to the pace of the Premier League, earning playing time and showing on the pitch what he has so far only put into words. For Chilean soccer, having another representative in the English league is news that's being followed closely, and Osorio's story promises to be one worth watching in the weeks ahead.
