Dourado's late header rescues a point for bottom-dwelling Juárez against Tijuana
Dourado's header in the 83rd minute canceled out El Ghezouani's penalty and spared the Liga MX cellar-dwellers another defeat.

Rodrigo Dourado had been on the field for less than ten minutes when he popped up to equalize with a close-range header that made it 1-1 between Juárez and Club Tijuana. The goal came in the 83rd minute, off a Daniel Piña corner kick delivery, and handed Juárez a point that carries more weight in the standings than it might seem.
The match, part of the Liga MX schedule, had tilted in Tijuana's favor since the first half. In the 27th minute, VAR reviewed a play inside the box and awarded a penalty to the border side for a handball by Leonardo Rodríguez. Three minutes later, Mourad El Ghezouani made no mistake from the spot, driving a right-footed shot down the middle of the goal to make it 0-1.
How the match unfolded
Before the penalty, Tijuana had already served notice: Jackson Porozo tested the keeper with a header in the third minute, and Ignacio Rivero had at least two more attempts in the opening quarter hour, all off target. Juárez, for its part, created a chance before halftime with a header from Óscar Estupiñán that was stopped right under the crossbar.
In the second half, the visitors came close to a second goal almost immediately: just after the restart, Ramiro Árciga rattled the left post with a shot. Juárez grew into the second half, with attempts from Luca Martínez Dupuy and Estupiñán himself failing to find the target, until the equalizer arrived with seven minutes left on the clock. The closing stretch saw chances at both ends, with Jackson Porozo and Ignacio Rivero threatening for Tijuana deep into stoppage time, though the score held.

Juárez controlled the ball more and was sharper on target, but Tijuana generated a higher volume of shots. By our expected-goals estimate based on the match's shot data, Juárez accumulated 1.474 against 1.343 for Tijuana, a razor-thin gap that lines up fairly well with how even the final scoreline turned out to be.
Our pre-match preview gave Tijuana the best odds of winning, at 40% compared to 33% for Juárez and 27% for a draw, projecting expected goals of 1.65 for the visitors against 1.49 for the home side. The final result, draw included, ended up matching that middle-ground scenario the preview had left open.
What it means in the standings
The draw does not change much for either side. Tijuana sits on 15 points in the tournament, in eighth place, with a record of 4 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses so far. Juárez, meanwhile, remains in last place with just 4 points from 1 win, 1 draw and 9 losses in 11 matches played. The gap between the two clubs in the table stands at 11 points, and Dourado's goal, while not enough to climb out of the basement, at least salvaged an afternoon that looked headed toward yet another defeat.
