Casa Pia stuns Estoril with stoppage-time winner, wins 1-2 despite missed penalty

Estoril led for 19 minutes and let it slip at the worst possible moment. Vasco Matos's side went 1-0 up through a Ricard Sanchez goal in the 69th minute, but Casa Pia hit back almost immediately and wound up taking the match 1-2 at the Estadio Antonio Coimbra da Mota, with a stoppage-time goal that left the home side with nothing to show for its effort.

The result rests on a detail that carries real weight: it was the visitors, not the hosts, who walked away with all three points even though Estoril controlled long stretches of the game and scored first. That's how cruel soccer can be when you miss a penalty in the first half.

A missed penalty that could have changed everything

The match stayed wide open until the end. Abdu Dafe, who had just come on, rattled the crossbar with another effort in the 87th minute, as if Estoril's woodwork had a magnet on it that night. But in the 88th minute, Benjamin Pauwels, also introduced from the bench, finished from outside the box off a pass from Seba Perez to make it a final 1-2 and complete the comeback.
