PSG-Barcelona Champions League Clash to Go Ahead Despite Unrest in France
France's interior minister confirmed the match at Parc des Princes is not in doubt, even as the government imposed partial curfews following days of looting.

With the streets of Paris still unsettled, soccer isn't backing down. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez confirmed Monday that the Champions League match between PSG and Barcelona will go ahead as planned, despite the serious unrest that has rocked the country in recent days.
The question had been hanging in the air after the French government floated the possibility of suspending sporting events as a containment measure. But Nuñez was clear: that scenario does not include the showdown at the Parc des Princes.
We've raised the possibility of postponing events. That question doesn't apply to tomorrow's PSG-Barcelona match. The games are not in doubt.Laurent Nuñez
Kickoff is set for 9:00 p.m. local time (7:00 p.m. GMT) at the stadium in the 16th arrondissement, on the western side of the French capital. That location is part of the problem: Paris has been one of the hottest flashpoints in the wave of looting and vandalism that broke out on the fringes of the protests on Saturday, October 17, when hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets over the rising cost of living and the decline of public services.
The minister's comments came just hours after Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced partial, localized curfews in various parts of the country. Lecornu, however, declined to specify which Paris neighborhoods would fall under the restriction, so it remains unclear whether the district hosting the match will be affected in any way.
A Clash of Leaders Amid the Storm
Beyond the noise surrounding the stadium, what happens on the field carries plenty of weight on its own. PSG and Barcelona enter matchday three of the Champions League league phase as the only two teams to have won their first two games. The Paris side, coached by Luis Enrique, sits atop the table; Hansi Flick's squad follows close behind in second place.
So with curfews looming over other parts of France and uncertainty still hanging in the air, European soccer will keep its date as scheduled. Parc des Princes will open its doors, and the lead in the league phase will be on the line between two teams that, so far, haven't slipped up.
