Huracán downs Aldosivi 1-0 and could have run up the score with a man advantage
Lescano's goal and Pombo's red card sealed the win for the "Globo," who dominated and hit the crossbar and post as their only obstacles, tightening their grip on first place in Group B.

One goal was all it took, but Huracán's 1-0 win over Aldosivi at the Tomás Adolfo Ducó felt wider than the scoreline suggests. The "Globo" finished the match with a man advantage from the 73rd minute on and could have run up the score had the crossbar and post not gotten in the way. Leandro Lescano struck in the 35th minute to settle a match Huracán controlled from start to finish in Argentina's Primera División, within Group B.
The home side looked sharper from the opening whistle, though Aldosivi had its own early warnings: Andrés Vombergar and Nicolás Gaitán tested their luck in the first few minutes without causing much alarm. Huracán gradually took control through Juan Bisanz's crosses and attempts from Óscar Cortés and Facundo Kalinger, who twice rattled the crossbar with headers. The pressure paid off in the 35th minute: Lescano finished with his right foot from inside the box after an assist from Bisanz, making it 1-0 and sending the teams into the break with the home side ahead.
The second half opened with a stroke of luck for Huracán that didn't translate into a goal: in the 45th minute of the second period, Lucas Blondel struck the left post, and just a minute later Bisanz did the same off the crossbar from close range. Aldosivi, for its part, tried to respond by bringing on Agustín Palavecino and Rodrigo González, and created chances through Gaitán and Nicolás Cordero, but the home goalkeeper answered well on the shots that carried any real danger.
The match tilted decisively in the 73rd minute, when Joaquín Pombo picked up a second yellow card for dangerous play and left Aldosivi down to ten men. With the extra space, Huracán created several more chances: Leandro Lescano tried his luck from outside the box and forced a great save into the top corner, while Máximo Palazzo and Óscar Romero also had late attempts that didn't find the net.
What the numbers say
The stats confirm Huracán's superiority, as the home side was clearly more effective at creating clear-cut chances:
| Stat | Huracán | Aldosivi |
|---|---|---|
| Possession (%) | 50.9 | 49.1 |
| Shots | 18 | 12 |
| Shots on target | 7 | 4 |
| Big chances | 4 | 1 |
| Corners | 6 | 5 |
| Passes | 413 | 406 |
Our expected goals estimate based on the match's shots also backs up that dominance: 1.921 for Huracán against 1.301 for Aldosivi, a gap the final score doesn't fully capture.
Beforehand, we had projected a 52% chance of a Huracán win, a 32% chance of a draw and just 16% for an Aldosivi victory, with an expected goals forecast of 1.33 for the home side and 0.64 for the visitors. The result ended up matching that favoritism, though the margin on the field was wider than those numbers suggested, largely thanks to the red card that smoothed the way in the closing stretch.
What the match leaves behind
With the win, Huracán climbed to first place in the group with 19 points from 11 matches played (5 wins, 4 draws, 2 losses), while Aldosivi remains in 13th place with 8 points from 11 matches (2 wins, 2 draws, 7 losses), 11 points behind its opponent on the day. For the "Globo," it was a complete afternoon: control of the ball, clear chances and a numerical advantage that sealed a result that, based on what was created, could have been even more lopsided.
