Millonarios lets victory slip away in draw with Aguilas Doradas
An own goal by Ureña allowed the home side to level the score after Leo Castro had put the Embajador ahead from the penalty spot.

A point that feels like too little. That's what Millonarios took away from its visit to Estadio Cincuentenario, where the team drew 1-1 with Aguilas Doradas in matchday 6 of the Liga BetPlay. The Embajador went ahead thanks to a penalty converted by Leo Castro, but couldn't hold the lead until the final whistle, ultimately conceding the equalizer on an own goal by Ureña.
The result leaves mixed feelings for the blue squad. On one hand, there's the relief of not losing on the road; on the other, the sense that something important slipped away. And no one summed up that feeling better than Stiven Barreiro, one of the players who spoke after the final whistle in an interview with Caracol Radio.
The player didn't hold back when assessing what happened. In his view, the team did enough to walk away with all three points, something that ultimately didn't happen because of details that got away from them in the second half.
"It wasn't the result we wanted but we played a good game. We should have won, it was a very winnable match. Now we have to focus on Llaneros and hopefully this point ends up mattering"Stiven Barreiro
Complaints about the state of the field
Beyond the result, Barreiro also drew attention to an issue that tends to come up again and again on some fields around the country: the condition of the playing surface. According to the player himself, the state of the field at the Cincuentenario didn't help the team execute its style of play.
"The field didn't help much, it's a surface where you can't really play soccer and it's more about scrapping for the ball. It's not the best field to show good soccer and have everything flow better"Stiven Barreiro
With this draw, Millonarios failed to regain the winning form it was chasing in the league and will have to wait to pick up three points again. The next stop on the schedule is the match against Llaneros, a game Barreiro himself already flagged as the team's next immediate goal.
The point earned on Antioquian soil, in any case, keeps the Embajador's hopes alive in a championship that's just getting underway, one where there's still room to correct course. The question that lingers is whether results like this, dropping points in matches considered "winnable," will end up costing them further down the table.
