River set to travel with fans again for Junín clash with Sarmiento

River will once again hit the road with company. For the third consecutive away match, the Millonario will have its fans in the stands, this time in a setting loaded with symbolism: Junín. On Sunday, October 4 at 2:45 p.m., River will take on Sarmiento in matchday 11 of the Torneo Clausura at Estadio Eva Perón, and a section for traveling supporters will be set aside.

The news carries real weight given the context. After playing in front of their own fans at Banfield's stadium (Leonardo Ponzio's debut as head coach) and then against Atlético Tucumán, the team will once again have supporters in the away end for a third straight road trip. It's something that seemed unthinkable just a few months ago and is now becoming a real possibility in various corners of Argentine soccer.

Junín, in fact, is one of the cities chosen to test the return of traveling fans. This weekend, Sarmiento will already host visiting supporters when it faces Belgrano in matchday nine. For the club from the Buenos Aires province city, it marks a historic chapter: after more than 12 years of prohibition, its stadium will officially welcome both sets of fans once again.

For the match against River, roughly 3,500 fans of the Millonario are expected to make the trip. That's no small figure: it means putting together a large-scale security operation, with coordinated work between Aprevide, the Buenos Aires provincial police, the club's own security staff and the local municipality. Street closures, separated access points and a buffer zone around the away section are all part of the plan, along with a much larger police presence than a match without visiting fans would require.

How much will tickets cost?

The price and specific sale process for River fans haven't been finalized yet, but Sarmiento has already given a hint with the setup used for the match against Belgrano, which could be repeated. Tickets are available online through the club's official website, and in person at the Secretary's office (Necochea and Gandini) and at the CAS Shop downtown (Av. Arias 30), with hours running Monday through Saturday. On matchday, the stadium box office will open two hours before kickoff.

The reference prices for the match against the Córdoba side were: home general admission, $50,000; away general admission, $70,000; seniors and pensioners, $25,000; minors, $12,000; Arias grandstand seating, $90,000; and covered grandstand seating, $100,000.

If these two matches, against Belgrano and against River, go off without major issues, the door will remain open for the arrangement to continue. Rosario Central, which will visit Sarmiento in matchday 15 of the 2026 Clausura, could be the next club to get its own section for traveling fans in Junín.
