An own goal in the fourth minute set the tone for a match that ended up being the exact opposite of what it seemed to promise: not a quiet, low-scoring script, but a four-goal back-and-forth. Atlanta United and New York City FC drew 2-2 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in an MLS clash that was decided goal by goal all the way into the second half.

In the 73rd minute, Jay Fortune, who had come on just a few minutes earlier in place of Cooper Sanchez, finished with his right foot from the center of the box to make it a final 2-2, assisted by Tristan Muyumba.

Stoppage time brought no further scares on the scoreboard, though it did bring a tough break for Atlanta: Daniel Chica had to leave the field injured in the 90th minute with the home side having no substitutions left, forcing them to effectively finish the match a man down.
