St. Louis City SC Routs New York Red Bulls 3-0 on the Road
Navarro put the visitors ahead in the fourth minute and a late Ostrák brace sealed a rout that drops the Red Bulls to eighth in the MLS Eastern Conference.

Rafael Navarro needed just four minutes to put St. Louis City SC ahead, and from there the New York Red Bulls never found a way back into the game. The final score was 3-0 at Sports Illustrated Stadium, a loss that leaves Michael Bradley's side empty-handed on their own turf.
The early goal came from a free kick taken by Conrad Wallem, who whipped a cross into the penalty spot for Navarro to head home from close range by the left post. It was the first sign of an afternoon in which Yoann Damet's St. Louis City SC controlled the rhythm of the match.
The Red Bulls didn't sit back. Mohammed Sofo tested the keeper from outside the box just minutes later, and between the 27th and 29th minutes there was a flurry of chances: Carlo Holse, Tomas Totland and Dante Polvara all tested the visiting defense, while Cade Cowell answered with a shot that sailed over from the middle. Emil Forsberg also had a look before the break, firing just wide on a counterattack. But the 1-0 scoreline at halftime already felt heavy.
A crushing finish
The second half opened with chances from both sides (Eric Choupo-Moting and Conrad Wallem threatened early) and the Red Bulls generating a bit more danger thanks to substitutions, with Pedro Castro and Connor Faello coming on to spark the attack. The home side's clearest chance didn't arrive until the 72nd minute, when the visiting goalkeeper denied a Choupo-Moting effort right under the crossbar.
But the match broke open late. In the 86th minute, just seconds after Tomás Ostrák, who had just come on, rattled a shot off the keeper, Simon Becher struck from outside the box to find the right side of the net and make it 2-0. The Red Bulls had no time to respond, and deep into stoppage time, with six minutes added on, Ostrák himself finished from the center of the box to make it a final 3-0.
What the numbers say
St. Louis City SC was ahead in nearly every statistical category on the night, a reflection of a dominance the scoreline ultimately confirmed emphatically in the closing stretch.

According to our xG estimate calculated from the match's shots, St. Louis City SC generated 1.966 expected goals to the Red Bulls' 1.097, a gap that doesn't fully explain a rout that was effectively decided in just four minutes of play.
The preview had pointed to a much closer contest. Our projection gave the home side a 33% chance of winning, 26% for a draw and 41% for an away win, with a combined expected goals total of 3.24. The result ultimately favored the side already tabbed as the favorite, though by a far wider margin than those numbers suggested.
With the loss, New York Red Bulls remain on 33 points after 27 MLS matches played, sitting eighth in the Eastern Conference, while St. Louis City SC takes a commanding road win to close out the matchday.
