Hernán Galíndez reaches 100 games for Huracán with a steady performance against Riestra
The Ecuadorian goalkeeper has kept a clean sheet in nearly half of his appearances for the Globo.
Not just anyone reaches 100 games, especially not a goalkeeper. Before kickoff in the match against Deportivo Riestra, Hernán Galíndez received a special tribute at Huracán for hitting that round number with the Globo's jersey. As if the match itself wanted to match the mood of the celebration with some calm, the game ended 0-0, and the goalkeeper closed out the night without a scare, turning in another confident performance between the posts.
The Ecuadorian arrived at Parque Patricios in 2024 with a resume that already spoke for itself. He came off two solid seasons at Aucas, the club with which he won the Liga Ecuabet 2022 title and also played in the CONMEBOL Libertadores in 2023. That experience, combined with his background playing in two World Cups with the Ecuadorian national team, was exactly what convinced Huracán to bet on him. And that bet, it must be said, paid off in full.
Since his arrival, Galíndez hasn't had to fight for a starting spot: he won the job right away and never let it go. On a roster that wasn't always the strongest in Argentine soccer, his class ended up making a massive difference. It's not a stretch to think that without his saves, Huracán's recent history could have looked very different. Over these two and a half years he's become one of the team's most important pieces, the kind of player a coach never wants to imagine missing from the lineup.
The one thing still missing, though, is a title. In the 2025 Torneo Apertura, Huracán made it all the way to the final, and Galíndez was time and again the team's biggest backbone along that run, winning over a fan base that has already made him one of their own. He still hasn't lifted a trophy with the club, but his name is already tied to some of the institution's best recent moments.
The numbers back up the tribute: across his 100 games with Huracán, the goalkeeper has kept a clean sheet on 48 occasions, nearly half of the matches he's played. That kind of average explains pretty well why the club chose to celebrate his centenary before the match against Riestra.
Now, with the tribute already behind him, the focus shifts elsewhere: winning that title he still owes himself with the Globo. In the meantime, Galíndez keeps adding games and, more importantly, keeps giving Huracán fans reasons to look at him fondly every time he steps onto the field.
